Documentary 'Farmingville' to be shown
MONMOUTH, Ill. — "Farmingville," a documentary that previously aired on PBS, will be shown on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 3:3 p.m. in Wells Theater. The 78-minute film is part of this month's Latino Heritage events on campus.

Directed by Carlos Sandoval, “Farmingville” draws its title from the suburban New York community torn apart by illegal immigration. In 2001, a conflict erupted resulting in the deaths of two Mexican workers at the hands of white men. The next year, Sandoval – a former New York lawyer with no filmmaking experience -- moved to the Farmingville area of Long Island to make the film. The community is home to both wealthy property owners and immigrant day laborers, and each side has its share of activists.

A discussion session will follow the film.
