Fine arts converge on Oct. 24 at Monmouth College event
MONMOUTH, Ill. — As part of the ongoing observance of Fine Arts Month at Monmouth College, the student organization MENC (Music Educators National Conference) will host a special event on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.
“We came up with the idea to have a night where we bring all the fine arts together,” said Kim Freeman, a freshman from Oak Forest, who is helping to organize the event, which is free and open to the public.
Student ensembles and organizations will play music (a jazz combo and The Scotsmen), perform theater (Crimson Masque) and comedy (FYImprov) and read poetry (Sulci).
“We are also still working on having art students display their work,” said Freeman.
“We hope it’s a big success and will gain momentum in future years,” added MENC president Tim Seyller, a senior from Hampshire.
