Monmouth
students of exceptional academic achievement and ambition are likely
candidates for a national scholarship, fellowship or competitive
internship. Many prestigious national opportunities are available to our
students, most of which award funding for graduate study, fellowship
positions or independent research and travel.
A number of competitive
scholarships are available to sophomore, junior and senior students
during their undergraduate study. We
encourage you to learn as much as you can about these resources and
opportunities.
There are two types of national scholarships:
We are happy to provide you with information about the national
scholarships, fellowships and competitive internships for which you are
eligible as an academically accomplished Monmouth College student.
We can also help you plan experiences that will assist you in developing
your portfolio. Many of these national, competitive opportunities
require that you prepare well
in advance. Take
careful note of internal campus deadline as well as external competition
deadlines. Begin preparing now!
All national scholarship applications take a
great deal of
thought and preparation. If you are
seriously interested in applying, we recommend that you contact the
Mellinger Teaching and Learning Center AT LEAST three months prior to
the application deadline.

In addition, you should talk with your
academic advisor early in your college career
about your interest in pursuing a competitive national scholarship,
fellowship or prestigious internship. Preparation for a national
scholarship can begin as early as your first year at college, as you
explore possibilities regarding the courses, co-curricular activities,
special academic opportunities such as summer research and study abroad,
and preparation for graduate school
