Making calls to parents will follow the same type of format. Your
conversations will probably revolve more around statistical information,
campus safety issues, and financial concerns.
Pease encourage parents to
visit campus with their child. It is
important for them to also have a good feeling about the college.
Our hope is that you will calm their
fears about "letting go." College is a huge adjustment for students, but
as you well know, it is an adjustment that affects the entire family.
As you talk to the parents, encourage
them to ask questions during their campus visit. Parents
should talk to admission counselors and meet with students at the college
or university that their son/daughter is interested in. Let them know that
by asking questions, they will discover which college will best care for
their child.
Many parents are looking for other
parents with experience, not necessarily advice or answers. Basically,
your job is to share your experience and any insight (or hindsight) you
have regarding the search process. |
