Personal Reflections:
As a high school senior, it was not a difficult decision for me to
attend Monmouth College. Coming from a graduating class of under forty
students, I was looking for a small school environment. I found that and
much more at Monmouth. Though I worried at first it would be too close
to my hometown, I soon found the half-hour trip perfect when I wanted to
take laundry home for mom or get a home-cooked meal! Campus was also
just far enough away for me to be independent and explore the many
possibilities of my future.
Attending a liberal arts college was
important to me as I wanted to gain a holistic education. Classes were
invigorating and small so I wasn’t just an identification number on the
roster. I had the opportunity to be truly engaged in my own
education. My professors were absolutely the best part with their
challenging, yet caring demeanor…and they even invited classes home for
dinner! Their doors were always open to help me with difficult
assignments, to share life’s troubles and celebrations, and even just to
chat. I left with not only a great education, but lasting relationships
with faculty and staff I can still count on as an alumnus!
I also have many fond memories of the
social side of Monmouth College. From silly times with roommates to the
Scot’s Day traditions and athletic rivalries, my four years at Monmouth
will never be forgotten. However, it was the lifelong friendships I made
which made my experience so incredible! Through student organizations,
classes, and my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, I met great people from all
over the world! I even vacation every summer with a group of college
friends. With camping, canoeing, and cookouts, we continue to make
memories!
Monmouth College is what college was
truly meant to be. From the traditional red brick buildings to the
Fighting Scots school spirit, there is so much to experience. I am very
excited to return as staff to Monmouth College and share with you why we
are such a great place to both learn and grow. I hope you will schedule
a campus visit, and maybe even make your own memories as a student
someday! |
