Personal Reflections:
When I first came to Monmouth College, I was really not expecting it
to be very different from other colleges. I soon came to discover that it
was different, and in many good and important ways. I have been here since
1999, and each day I see new ways that Monmouth is different from other
schools.
Being a new member of a community can be difficult, so I was a little surprised
at how quickly I felt like I belonged here. I was able to knit myself into
the community and now I cannot imagine not being a part of Monmouth
College. I think everyone here feels a personal stake in the Monmouth
College experience for our students. That shows in numerous ways - from
the time spent with students after class to discuss the finer points of a
topic to the maintenance of the campus to the quality of the food.
This is just one way I feel Monmouth is different. I get excited when I
see the young men and women that come to visit Monmouth College. I see the
potential that exists in them; I see the promise they hold. I know it
sounds campy, but I look at them and see what a wonderful environment
Monmouth provides them with to fulfill that promise.
