Peter Pitts' Personal Ponderings:
Everyone Tells me I should write a book. Perhaps I should. I have recruited
students for a total of 30 years (the last 16 years for Monmouth College), so
there are plenty of fun stories to tell. Monmouth students are what I term
"hyper-involved"...involved in so many outside activities I wonder how they can
fit all those activities in a 24 hour day! One of my hyper-involved recruits is
now an Army chaplain in Iraq. One is now a principal of a grade school (at the
tender age of 30)! One has been voted the top young lawyer in the City of
Chicago.
There are too many of these stories to tell. Perhaps I should write a series of
books! I already know the adjectives that will fill its pages: The adjectives
most often used to describe our students are: kind, caring, involved,
fun-loving, friendly, easy-going, social, dedicated, engaged, helpful,
enthusiastic, ambitious, and diverse.
As I work with prospective students and their families, I try to make sure there
is a good "fit" between the student and Monmouth College. I view every student
as a new chapter in my book!
