Dr. Frederick J. Kaskel ’67

Frederick Jeffrey Kaskel, M.D., Ph.D. is a 1967 graduate of Monmouth College. Dr. Kaskel is Professor of Pediatrics / Director, Pediatric Nephrology and Vice Chair, Affiliate & Network Relations for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Nephrology in Bronx, New York.

Kaskel ’67.Dr. Kaskel’s higher education includes: B.A. in Biology from Monmouth College; M.D. in Medicine and Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; Intern and Resident in Pediatrics at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx New York; Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.

Dr. Kaskel has served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY since 1981. He did his residency training in Pediatric Nephrology at Stony Brook. He also served as Associate Professor and Professor in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

Society memberships of Dr. Kaskel’s include: American Society of Pediatric Nephrology; American Society of Nephrology; New York Academy of Sciences; New York Academy of Medicine Fellow; American Association for the Advancement of Science; International Pediatric Nephrology Association; International Society of Nephrology; Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Sigma Xi; National Kidney Foundation; New York Society of Nephrology; American Physiological Society, Federation of the American Society for Experimental Biology; New York/New Jersey Pediatric Nephrology Study Group; American Heart Association, Council on Kidney; Society for Pediatric Research; Eastern Society for Pediatric Research; American Pediatric Society; Renal Physician’s Association; American Society Transplantation; International Pediatric Transplant Association; American Association of Kidney Patients.

Dr. Kaskel’s honors and awards include: 1967-72 – Doctoral Training Program in Physiology, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; 1977-80 – Fellowship, Kidney Disease Institute of New York; 1980-81 – National Research Service Award, Albert Einstein College of Medicine; 1986 – Mitchell L. Rubin Lectureship, Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, New York; 1990 – Young Pioneer Award, National Kidney Foundation of New York/New Jersey; 1993 – Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Course Participant in "Advanced In Situ Hybridization & Immunocytochemistry;" 1996 – Resource Foundation Wall of Fame Award for organizing a medical mission to Andean Village in Peru; 1998 – Best Doctors in New York; 2000 – The Best Doctors in America; 2002 – National Medical Award in Pediatric Nephrology, Kidney & Urology Foundation of America; 2005 – Distinguished Alumni Award, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Class of 1975; 2007 – Distinguished Alumni Award, Monmouth College, Class of 1967.
