Anyone who does online
shopping can donate to the cause of their choice (think Monmouth
College!) simply by starting their purchase through the iGive.com Web
site. A percentage of every purchase made through iGive.com
automatically benefits the customer’s chosen cause. Purchases made
within the first 45 days that a donor registers generate a $5 bonus
donation.
iGive.com’s online mall
features nearly 700 stores, including
Lands’ End,
Staples.com,
JCPenney,
Barnes & Noble,
Overstock.com,
eBay and
Office Depot.
How does the service work? As an example, one MC staff member recently
bought a piece of luggage from
Overstock.com, and Monmouth College will be receiving $7.28 from
that purchase.
Raising money for your cause is as easy as 1-2-3:
Step 1 – Shop through iGive.com by
using the links in their
online mall, their
newsletter e-mails or the
iGive “Shopping Window” reminder tool. These are the only ways to
get credit (donations) for your purchases. Individuals can bookmark
iGive.com’s “A-Z
List of Stores” for easy access. If problems are encountered such as
seeing a blank page or receiving an error message, read iGive.com’s “Shopping
FAQs” or contact the company.
Step 2 – Sit back and relax, as purchases are tracked automatically.
Please allow 30 days (after the shipment date) for your purchase and for
the resulting donation to be credited to your cause. For travel/lodging,
please allow 30 days after the travel date. Individuals can bookmark
their iGive.com
Shopping Report page, which is where their credited donations will
be listed. To report missing donations, please

Step 3 – iGive.com mails the donation check to Monmouth College.
Donation checks are mailed every month, for funds calculated 75 days in
arrears. Individuals are encouraged to bookmark their “Cause
Stats” page to learn how much their cause has raised through
iGive.com and see the estimated amount of their next donation check.
By overwhelming demand, iGive.com’s members have requested that the
company sends them e-newsletters updating them on how much they’ve
raised, special offers, new ways of raising money and how much their
causes have raised. New members will receive the newsletters, which also
contain coupons, automatically.
Donations to Monmouth College will not be included in the donors’ annual
fund totals, since the donations come monthly as one lump sum from
iGive.com.
