The MC Pipe Band
competed at the Loch Norman Highland Games in North Carolina.

The Monmouth College Pipe
Band placed second in its division at the Loch Norman Highland Games in
Huntersville, N.C., on April 19.
Sanctioned by the Eastern
United States Pipe Band Association, the event attracted 14 entrants in
three divisions, including pipe bands from Atlanta and North Carolina
State University, which took first and third in Monmouth’s “Grade 3”
division.
“We traveled the farthest
to attend,” said MC associate professor Tim Tibbetts, who plays in the
band and serves as its faculty adviser. “We had the misfortune of having
several of our players suffering from illness, but it was another fine
showing for the Pipe Band. I am very proud of all their hard work and
dedication in making this spring’s competition successful and
enjoyable.”
The Monmouth College Pipe
Band was organized more than 50 years ago by the late Hal Loya,
professor of music. Monmouth College is one of the few schools in the
country to offer talent scholarships for pipers and drummers.
