Frank Fitch '51 |
Dr. Frank Fitch ’51 will be inducted into his alma mater’s Hall of
Achievement during Homecoming on Oct. 17.
Fitch is the Albert D. Lasker Professor Emeritus of Medical Sciences at the
University of Chicago, where he taught for 40 years.
Fitch pioneered medical technology involving monoclonal antibodies,
which serve as complementary elements in the areas of genetic research,
immunology and therapeutic applications. In 1995, the Frank W. Fitch
Monoclonal Antibody Facility was created to promote this technology and
make such services available to the University of Chicago community.
Considered Monmouth College’s highest alumni honor, the Hall of Achievement
recognizes alumni who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishment,
leadership and service in their profession.
Monmouth native Steven Skinner will deliver the Whiteman Lecture on Oct.
16 at 11 a.m. in Monmouth College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. Free and
open to the public, the lecture annually brings a noted business
executive or scholar to the college campus. Skinner, who graduated from
Monmouth High School in 1980, is a past president of Home Depot Direct
and is currently general manager of worldwide industry solutions
management at Microsoft’s office in Atlanta,
Ga.
The Whiteman
Lecture is named in memory of Wendell Whiteman, who was a long-time
executive at Security Savings Bank in Monmouth. The Hall of Achievement
was created and funded in 1992, also in honor of Mr. Whiteman and his
wife.
