"Treasury" of Atreus

The "Treasury" of Atreus is in fact not a treasury at all. It is a tholos style tomb, also known as a"beehive tomb." Its conical shape was built directly into the earth and the surrounding dirt acts as a natural element to maintain structural integrity. One feels very small in the vast vertical expanse of the tomb.
