Good Reasons With Contemporary Arguments (3^rd ed.), the new textbook used in ENGL 110 during the 2007-08 school year, contains helpful foundational materials that faculty from across the disciplines, including ILA, can use:

As part of the ongoing effort to shape ENGL 110 to the overall campus curriculum, the English Department switched textbooks in fall 2007 from the St. Martin’s Guide to Composition (7^th ed.) to Good Reasons with Contemporary Arguments.

Although Good Reasons better suits the interdisciplinary, critical thinking-based needs of the Monmouth curriculum, the St. Martin’s Guide nonetheless contains helpful chapters devoted to autobiographical and biographical writing assignments used in ILA:
