The 2008 rankings of the Princeton Review have named Monmouth College as one of the nation’s best Midwestern colleges, according to the latest update of the Review’s yearly “Best College: Region by Region” web section.
Included, among various facts and statistics provided on Monmouth College’s online profile are: a description of the Monmouth College student body as “determined, focused, amiable and enthusiastic,” information on the College’s current admission standards and a brief listing of the College’s most popular majors (some among them being business administration/management, education and English).
Princeton Review’s publisher and editorial director Robert Franek, in regard to the schools chosen for this honor, remarked, “The annual update of our ‘Best Colleges: Region By Region’ area on our site generates a surge of interest in these outstanding colleges from both media and the highly coveted audience of parents and students.”
Such a mark of distinction is not the only recognition which Monmouth College has received in recent years. In November of 2006, the College was selected to appear as one of 247 chosen higher learning institutes featured in the ninth edition of Barron’s “Best Buys in College Education.”
Reaction to the College’s latest superior ranking seems to be mainly positive. “I think it is amazing considering that a lot of people do not even know where Monmouth is,” said senior Ashleigh Tweed.
Sophomore Mike Diamond remarked, “I think it means we must be doing something right.” Meanwhile, others seemed outright shocked to hear this news, as junior Marc Arulfo stated, “Really? You’re kidding. Congratulations, Monmouth.”
Princeton Review’s most recent publication, “The Best 366 Colleges: 2008 Edition” is currently available for purchase from any major book retailer.
