Women's Soccer

The first full week of fall brought on a mighty felling of rival Knox College by the women’s soccer team at Peacock Field Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The Lady Scots crushed the Prairie Fire 6-0 at home to boost their conference record to 2-1 in the Midwest Conference in a stunning show of offense. The Scots lost last week to Grinnell in a tight game that left the Scots hungry for a win to bring them above .500. After a full week of hard practice and focus, they got just what they needed on Wednesday.

The game kicked off at 4:30 p.m. on a wonderful fall afternoon with ace junior Sarah Kisner drawing first blood with a rebound kick in the 18th minute of the game. After that it was target practice for the young Scots team as they closed out the first half 4-0.

Talented freshman Megan Meeke scored twice on the day with help from Lauren Lafond and Becca Baur. Both Baur and Lafond added goals in the second half with Baur smashing in a tremendous corner kick from Lauren Vana.

By the end of the game, 24 players touched the field and the Scots out shot the Prairie Fire 41-3.

With the momentum from this last game, the Scots hope to put together a win streak when they take on Hannibal-LaGrange College on Sept. 29, Clarke College Oct. 1 and then back to conference play against St. Norbert on Oct. 6.
