The dawn of a new era

The inauguration of President Ditzler

At 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, administration, faculty, students and family and friends of Mauri Ditzler attended his Inaugural Ceremony as he formally assumed the responsibilities of becoming Monmouth College’s 13th President.

During the ceremony, David Bowers, ’60, chairman of the Board of Trustees, presented Ditzler with the presidential medallion engraved with the names of MC past presidents.

Bowers reminded Ditzler, and the audience, how this medallion is to remember the founders of the college, the dedication of the faculty and the students, which are the reason MC was founded.

The inauguration was themed “Civil Discourse – a Liberal Arts Tradition,” which is “a subject near and dear to Mauri’s heart,” said Bowers in his welcoming address.  Read More...

Mentoring Week

Helping students see the “big picture”

This week marked the seventh anniversary of Monmouth College’s “Mentoring Week,” when students were able to meet with their advisors to discuss future plans beyond college.

The chair of “Mentoring Week,” Dr. Marjorie Bond, associate professor of mathematics and computer sciences, stated, “Mentoring Week is an opportunity for advisors and advisees to get together to talk about things other than registration; such as goals, life after MC, and internships.” Read More...

MC junior wins prestigious award

Junior Latin and history major, Lisa Adams, received a very prestigious award on the weekend of Oct. 21.

The Carole Ann Award for college foreign language and teaching majors was represented to Adams at the Marriott Hickory Ridge Conference Center in Lisle, IL with the banquet beginning at 6 p.m. and the actual ceremony starting at 7 p.m.

Adams found out about this award from her advisor Tom Sienkewicz, Minnie Billings Capron Professor of Classics. Read More...
