“Desperate Housewives” soundtrack as sultry and fun as the hit show

Popular singers such as Shania Twain, Martina McBride and Macy Gray can all be heard on the “Desperate Housewives” television soundtrack, which hit music stands late last month. The show has been a huge success, becoming a television icon that has not only received praise from American households, but has received critical acclaim as well.

In the beginning credits of every episode, a montage of women in art is displayed. Images of Cleopatra, Adam with Eve and the painting “American Gothic” fill the screen. Along with this, the soundtrack works alongside the show’s central theme of women and the everyday lives they lead. Appropriately, every artist featured on the album is a woman.

One of the songs, performed by the country female group, SheDaisy, is titled “God Bless the American Housewife.” This song, along with various others on the album, is very appropriate to the show.

In addition, many of the songs have very catchy verses that are sure to stick with you after listening to them. One of these included, “Damsel in Distress” performed by Wicked’s Idina Menzel, has an almost upbeat rock feel to it. Other performers featured on the album include K.D. Lang, LeeAnn Rimes, Joss Stone and Liz Phair.

Many of women featured on the album are strong-willed examples of what embodies a true woman in the world of music. I feel that the selection of women chosen to sing for the album, once again, exemplifies the inner message of the show.

Men and women alike enjoy the satirical and hilarious television series and I feel they will enjoy the album just as well. So if you can’t get enough of those five women on Wisteria Lane, you might want to check out the new television soundtrack, in stores now.
