If you are looking for some entertainment this Halloween weekend the best place to be is here on campus because the house of Sigma Phi Epsilon is hosting a haunted house and Grier Residence Hall will be hosting a costume party.

Senior C.O. Varnes, president of Sig Ep, explained their fraternity will be hosting a haunted house on Friday, Oct. 28 beginning at 7:30 p.m. and will run until people stop coming.

Varnes said, “We’ve been doing the haunted house for about six years now.”

To enter the house, students need to bring a canned good and all goods will go to the Starting Point program here in Monmouth.

The Sig Ep haunted house will consist of a maze, a clown room, which will be similar to old school funhouses with strobes lights, zombies, and even a scene from “The Ring,.”

Sophomore Brian Jordan said, “The majority of the men of Sig Ep will be participating in the haunted house and will be dressed up as Michael Myers, clowns and other Halloween favorites.”

Jordan explained that he is very excited about this year’s haunted house.

The Sig Ep’s haunted house is sponsored by the Lumber Yard here in Monmouth.

Junior Nick Defrancisco said, “This is the best haunted house we’ve had in years. It’s going to be really scary and our haunted house takes up the entire house.”

Other entertainment for the weekend is Grier Hall’s Halloween party.

The event will be held on Saturday Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Grier Formal Lounge.

There will be a costume contest, pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples and food.

A new addition to Grier is their a big screen TV and movies will be shown  during the party.

According to Junior Amanda Havens, “The Grier Staff is really excited about this party. The residents of Grier have been awesome so far this year; this is just a chance for us to thank them for being such great residents!”

All students are welcome to attend both events this weekend.
