Coaches Spotlight
Keith Crawford
After returning to Monmouth capus last year the swim team has grown a lot. Thanks mainly to the dedication of Keith Crawford.
Last year, although the team struggled, at times both the men and women showed heart and potential.
The team is full of young and hard working athletes that Crawford is looking mold into a dominate team.
Since his hiring in August in 2003, Crawford has held an expectaion that his team would become consistant competitors in the Midwest Conference.
Before arriving at Monmouth, Crawford spent two years as the assitant swim coach at DePauw University where he say his team become nationall-ranked.
Crawford, who was a successful swimmer during his high school years, looks to brign that success here to Monmouth.
Crawford attended Xavier University to earn his bachelor of arts degree in history. He then went on to earned his master's degree from Indiana State University in 2003.
Melissa Jones
After lond time coach Dennis Mann ended his 13 year career here at Monmouth, Melissa Jones stepped in to fill his shoes.
Last year, Jones served as the teams assistant coach. Now as the head coach, she is using every opportunity to whip the ladies into shape.
Jones played here at Monmouth during her colligate career and left as the team’s third leading scorer.
During her time here at Monmouth she competed in both volleyball and track and was named all-conference in 15 of the 16 seasons she competed.
In 2003, Jones ended her career with a bang when she was named Illinois’ NCAA Woman of the Year.
Jones is lookign to bring her success and work ethic to the womens team.
