Take a walk on the Wilde side

MC’s production of The Importance of Being Ernest

During this weekend only, the student-directed production of Oscar Wilde’s play, “The Importance of Being Ernest,” will be at Wells Theater

“This is a hilarious comedy that includes a mistaken identity, couples, love, family and much to do about nothing,” says freshman Johanna Elkana.

Senior Kathleen Kolbel is directing the play for her senior directing project for her major and said, “I read this play this summer and I really enjoyed it. When it was ‘okayed’ by Doc Wallace, I decided to do it.”

In addition, Kolbel has two assistant directors helping her: sophomores Katie Leifke and Leanna Wilson.  Read More...

This year Greeks Advocating Mature Manage-ment of Alcohol (G.A.M.M.A.) will be teaming up with BACCHUS (the Greek God of wine).

Directing Earnest

Many students at Monmouth complete some sort of senior project before they graduate. However, the rest of campus or the general public does not often see these projects. This weekend’s play is a senior project for one MC student.

Kat Koelbl, a Communication and Theater Arts (CATA) and Public Relations major with a concentration in theater, is directing “The Importance of Being Earnest” as her senior project.

Time for a new transition

Local artist featured in Hewes Library

The sculpture exhibition titled “Transitions,” by Macomb artist Matt M. Myers, will be on display Oct. 3-28 in MC’s Len G. Everett Gallery located upstairs in the Hewes Library.

A reception for the artist will be held Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. in the gallery. Both the exhibit and reception are free and are open to the public. Read More...

Greeks Advocating Mature Management of Alcohol (G.A.M.M.A.) is an “international association of college and university based peer education programs focusing on alcohol abuse prevention and other student health and safety issues.”
