For some people just the name of The Grounds is an unknown spot on campus, but for others it is a weekly event to go and receive free coffee.

The Grounds was started last year by Kelly Winfrey, who is a senior here at Monmouth College, and Wyatt Preul, who graduated last spring from Monmouth College. The Grounds is a coffee shop located in the Underground of Grier Hall.

However, this year two juniors, Chadd Kaiser and Johnathan Skidmore, decided to take over the business.

The Grounds, “Is a place for people to come relax, socialize, and have coffee,” Kaiser said.

Besides coffee, The Grounds has been offering entertainment in the way of musical bands and has been averaging about two bands a month: “The Marseilles Shore”, “Baezl,” “Chris Maurer Experience”, and “Larry Gates”.

Kaiser and Skidmore both added, “If you are looking for a place to just get away, have fun, and be with your friends then The Grounds is the place to hang out on Tuesday and Thursday nights.”

Hours of operation for The Grounds is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays nights from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m
