Letter from the Editor

A sweet, sweet victory

Marisa Kratochvil
Editor-in-Chief

I think I am one of the few women in this world who does not nag her boyfriend to switch the channel to TLC when a football game is on television. Sunday afternoons were meant to be spent inside, parked in front of the television watching football and Monday Night Football is considered an American pastime, in my book at least.

Ever since I was a child, football has been a constant in my life: at my first Thanksgiving there are photos of me staring at the television set, mesmerized by the game. Not that you really care what I did as a child, but it was just an example.

Now, as a college senior, I was mesmerized by how the Fighting Scots took charge of the season and went undefeated. I am proud to see Monmouth accomplish this, especially since this has not occurred since the 1972 Football Conference Champ-ions.

My dad, Tom Kratochvil ’73 played on the 1972 undefeated and untied team, which earned their sixth Midwest Conference Championship.

So, here I am, not only a product of an MC alumni, but also of a football veteran. Football is in my blood and I loved watching Knox get burned.

The Bowl was a challenge to walk on, however I only saw one MC student take a roll in the mud. The stands were loud and the air was stirred with anticipation to see us win. I especially loved the fact how no Knox fans did not heckle me for wearing a “KNuck fOX” shirt. They were losing, why would they want to cause a stir?

Reflecting on my senior year, it is hard for me to believe that I watched my last college football game as a college student; when I return next year, I will be an alumnus. Hard to consider these four seasons have flown by, but we are not ready to leave. I know I will be there supporting our Fighting Scots all the way to victory and, hopefully, you will be seated next to me in the stands and not miss watching TLC.
