Monmouth College women's swimming team is off to a great start in their season and are bound to keep up the good work.
Swimming consists of many events and the women's swimming team pretty much dominates a lot of them. With new swimmers such as Sarah Sauer and Sarah Christsensen, Monmouth will do well and are expected to win conference.
"We only had three swim meets so far and we are off to a good start," said swimmer Sarah Sauer. "We can only keep on improving."
In the first event, the girls 200 yard medley relay, Monmouth dominated with times like 30.92, 32.11, 29.41, and 26.61. Three of the four swimmers in the first event were freshman. Monmouth has many fresh young swimmers that know nothing but victory.
Also, in the seventh event, the girls' 100 yard backstroke, Monmouth freshman swimmer Jenny Lewis finished second place just two tenths of a second behind first place. "I thought I swam very well," said Lewis. "Second place isn't bad, but first place is always better."
Meanwhile, after three swim meets, Monmouth's swim team will have a meet on Saturday, Nov 12 against Lawrence University away in Appleton, Wis.
