More new faces at MC

According to James Bovinet, associate professor of marketing, sometimes a change of scenery does everybody good.

Bovinet felt it was time for him to educate college minds elsewhere after teaching at Winona State University in Winona, Minn.

Bovinet hailed from a family full of teachers; however, he did not plan on following in their footsteps.

Bovinet did not get his B.A. until he turned 37 years old.

After receiving his B.A., he continued his education by getting his master’s doctorate in business administration from Southern Illinois University, and then decided he would follow in his parents’ footsteps and began teaching at Winona University.

After nine years at Winona, he wanted to go elsewhere. When he saw Monmouth College advertising for professors in Chronicle of Education, he applied for the position and got the job.

This semester, Bovinet is teaching Principles of Marketing.

Compared to the 8,000 students at Winona, Bovinet definitely got the change of scenery he wanted.

MC welcomes another new face, Marsha Dopheide, assistant professor of psychology.

Ever since she third grade, Dopheide wanted to be a teacher.     Throughout high school, she was always interested in psychology and decided to pursue this area when she attended college at Western Illinois University (WIU).

Dopheide holds a B.A. in psychology and a Master of Science in experimental psychology from WIU.

Currently, she is completing her Ph.D. in cognition and neuroscience from the University of Montana in Colombia.

She was attracted to Monmouth for its small liberal arts atmosphere.

Growing  up in Quincy, Ill., she was familiar with the area and knew some people who attended MC.

In addition, she liked how she would be working in a smaller department with fewer students, so she could have a more personal relationship with them.

She is currently teaching Introduction to Drugs and Behaviors and Learning and Motivation this semester.
