The Fighting Scots' Women's soccer team finished the season with 11 wins and six loses putting them at an overall 3rd place in the MWC standings.

The women's soccer team, coached by Barry McNamara, kept strong throughout the season and is soon headed for the playoffs.

The last home game for Monmouth was played on Sunday Oct 23, against Lawrence University, which ended up with a final score of 5-1, in favor of the Scots. "I thought we played a great game," said Audrey Bellefeuille. "Everyone knows we have the potential to play good and we're going to show everyone that we can."

Meanwhile, on Saturday Oct 29, the Scots played for second place against Carroll College at Carroll. The Scots lost the game 2-1 due to a late goal scored by Carroll in the final minutes of play. "Even though we lost the second place match and finished 3rd," said Monmouth Striker Sarah Kisner. "We are going to show everybody what we can do when it comes time to play in the playoffs."

The Scots finished 3rd overall in the 2005 standings and were just one win behind for second place.

Also, Monmouth soccer star Kristin Mertel received, for her first time, the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week award. Mertel is a key defender on the Monmouth soccer team and has been playing for the Scots since her freshman year.

The next soccer game for the Scots is yet to be determined. All Monmouth soccer home games are played on Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
