Brandon’s Director of the Week

This week’s pick: Sam Peckinpah
Why?: His gritty style and use of slow-motion violence was groundbreaking.
Films: “The Wild Bunch,” “The Getaway,” “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia,” “Straw Dogs,” “Major Dundee: The Director’s Cut,” “Ride the High Country,” “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid: The Director’s Cut,” “Junior Bonner”
Recommendations: “The Wild Bunch” and the overlooked “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia,” which are both available on DVD, as with the rest of his canon.
