On Tuesday, Nov. 29, The Associated Students of Monmouth College (ASMC) held its last meeting of the semester in the Highlander Room.

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by President Brandie Miller.

President Miller started the meeting with officer reports. She thanked the senators for attending the meetings as well as a wonderful semester. Many things were accomplished this semester because of everyone’s involvement and attendance.

Vice President Richard Harrod had no report; however, he thanked the senators again for a great semester.

Treasurer Adam Riegle announced the start of the second funding cycle of the academic year for campus groups and organizations.

Student Affairs Representative Mollie Williams had spoke to a member of MC about putting lights above the back staircase of the Stockdale Center, so students can avoid any accidents during the winter months.

Secretary Sara Youngs took attendance.

Next there were committee breakouts.

In the Food Service committee, the representative spoke about extending the Hewes Library coffee shop hours since it currently closes before the library does. Also, the representative informed the ASMC about Midnight Breakfast which will occur sometime before finals week start.

Finally, a senator asked the representative who won the iPOD from the food service survey. The representative did not know, but would find out after speaking to Bruce Cvancara, dining services director.

Again, the Finance committee announced that it will be meeting with campus groups and organizations for the second funding cycle on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Riegle said that the groups will find out how much funding they received by the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

The Information Systems committee brought up the idea of getting a alternate web browser instead of Internet Explorer. Replacement Chair, Harrod, said that he would speak with Daryl Carr, executive director of information systems.

Chris Bastean, chair of the Scots’ Day committee asked if anyone would be interested to sign-up for the committee to start getting ideas for April’s festivities.

The Student Affairs committee asked about salting the sidewalks as soon as possible to avoid any slips or falls.

After hearing from the individual committees, President Miller asked the ASMC to approve a new group, Up til Dawn. The ASMC approved its constitution and the group is allowed 1 vote starting next semester.

President Miller mentioned that many organization change presidencies in the middle of the academic year and asked the organizations to ask their respective Presidents to e-mail the ASMC so it can update its member list with the correct Presidents.

Also, ASMC wants a new look for its website. If anyone has ideas for it, please e-mail any member of the executive board.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
