Swimming taking laps around opponents

“The team is continuing to swim strong this season.  There is no comparison to last year when it comes to our team’s overall performance, we’re going places this season” stated Sophomore Dan Campione.

The Scots swim team is getting pumped up for the big “mid-season conference” this Friday and Saturday as they take a road trip to Greencastle, IN to compete in the DePauw Invitational.

Other schools the Scots are competing against include: Alma, Centre, DePauw, Illinois Wesleyan, Milikin, Rhodes, Rose-Hulman, Transylvania, Wabash, and Wittenberg.

This “mini-conference” is quite important for the Scots, because the times that are swam are used to show what the team could do when it comes to the actual Midwest Conference Championships in February.

The team is hoping to swim well at this invite to show the other teams that the Monmouth College swim team is indeed a “force to be reckoned with,” as teammate Campione stated earlier in the season

The swim team is also preparing themselves for Christmas Break, as they head down south for their seven-day training trip in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  As we’re stuck in the snow, the Scots swim team will be competing against other teams training in sunny and warm Fort Lauderdale.

Be sure to come out and support the Monmouth College Fighting Scots swim team Wednesday Jan. 11, 4 P.M., as they take on Milikin University for their last home meet of the season, in MC’s very own Pepper Natatorium.
