As Monmouth College rings in a new school year, it brings in new faculty members.
Amy Caldwell de Farias is the new associate professor of American and Latin American Histories.
De Farias comes to Monmouth from Portland , OR where she taught at Lewis and Clark College for one and a half years.
She received her bachelor's degree in secondary education and history from Manchester College in North Manchester , IN and she earned her master's degree in Latin American history from Indiana University , located in Bloomington , IN.
In September 2002, she received her Ph.D. in Iberian and Latin American history from the Pontíficia Universidade Católica do Brasil, located in Brazil .
While de Farias was in Brazil for 10 years, she designed a course, which helped teachers who wanted to teach history.
“In Brazil , I was able to broaden my knowledge, not only of history, but of philosophy and literature and incorporate that into my writings and teachings.”
De Farias decided to teach at MC, because it is exactly like the undergraduate college of North Manchester , IN.
