The Men's cross country team continued their season on Saturday Sept. 17 at the Grinnell Les Duke Invit-ational. The race was held at Oakland Acres Golf Course.

As a team, they were able to finish fourth out of 11 teams on the 8K course. Individually, senior Anthony Welty finished third overall for MC with a time of 26:28.

The MC team was able to judge themselves individually along Midwest Conf-erence competition against Grinnell College , Knox College , and Lake Forest College along with other Division III teams.

A highlight of the meet was that sophomore runner Seth Leitner was able to break his personal record for the 8k by 50 seconds. His time at the meet was 28:02 and he finished in 29th for the Scots.

The team was without yet another one of their top runners, junior Kel Bond, who was not able to participate due to a basic skills test. Perhaps with the full team able to compete, MC would have been able to compete for first place as a team. Despite Bond's absence, MC was still able to take a fourth place finish; this shows the talent and balance of the squad.

Welty said “As long as we keep improving on our times, and with the return of Bond, we are right where we want to be.” MC will continue their season Saturday Sept. 24 in St. Paul , Minn. at the Roy Griak Invitational.
