Playing hard during their fifth seasonal game, the Scots lost to Central College in a 4-0 gruesome match.
The soccer game was on Saturday, Sept. 17, held in Pella , Iowa , and the visiting Monmouth Scots lost the match. Even though the Scots had lost 4-0, Monmouth keeper, junior keeper Brad Hofmann pulled off eight amazing saves to keep the Scots alive during the game.
The Scots played a good game, but came up in second in almost every statistic. During the entire game, the Monmouth Scots had a total of seven shots while Central College had twenty-five shots.
Also, Central College had fifteen corner kicks while our Fighting Scots had only one.
The Scots are now at a record of two wins and three losses. Their last game is on Thursday, Sept. 22 against Culver-Stockton College in Canton , Missouri . The game is at 4:00 pm and the Scots are expected to win the game.
“We have the all qualities and talent to win, it's just that you can't win them all,” said sophomore Brandon Stacey, who has played impressively in his first year on the team.
The next game for the Scots is against Grinnell College and will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 4:00 pm.
The men's soccer team will end its season with 10 straight conference games. Grinnell is the first game of the 10 game stretch.
