During the week of October 3 through 6, 2005, Monmouth College’s Information Systems Center will hold its biannual Computer Security Awareness Week
During the 30 minute presentation, students will have the chance to learn basic steps that every computer user should follow to avoid security problems. Tips including but not limited to the importance of anti-virus and anti-spy ware software, firewalls, and windows operating systems will be given during the presentation.
Marcie Beintema, training and documentation specialist, is “looking forward to put on the event” and “hopes for a good turnout.”
In addition to the free presentation and refreshments, students will have the chance to win one of seven USB drives or an MP3 player. Students can enter by attending a presentation on October 3, 4, or 5 in the Barnes Electric Classroom at 4 p.m. or HL124 at 7 p.m. The Barnes Electric Classroom is located in the basement of Hewes Library, and HL124 is the class area in front of the Information Systems Center Office in Hewes Library. Students may fill out an entry form at each session they attend.
The Information Systems Center is located in the rear of Hewes Library across from the coffee shop. Any questions regarding MC’s Computer Security Awareness Week or any other computer related questions can be answered by calling 309-457-2106.
