The Monmouth Scots men’s soccer squad pulls off yet another stunning, hard-earned game. The Scots played a victorious away match winning against Grinnell College with a final score of 3 – 2.
The game was held in Grinnell, Iowa at the Grinnell College soccer complex. “We played a good team on a good field. We came on the pitch with a positive attitude and won the game,” said Paul Kallal, who scored 2 of the 3 Scots goals.
He also stated, “We are on a two game winning streak and would definitely like to keep it up.”
Grinnell College game up big in the beginning of the game with a goal scored in the eighteenth minute by Grinnell’s top player, Ben Schrager. After halftime, the score was still 1-0 in favor of the opposing team. Ben Schrager scored again for Grinnell but this time scoring in the forty-eighth minute.
But only three minutes later, offensive striker, Paul Kallal, scored. Another goal was scored just a few minutes later by Brandon Stacey, who was then followed up by another great goal by Paul Kallal, making the final score 3 – 2 for the Scots.
Yet another great game was also played by Monmouth keeper, Brad Hoffman, for his 6 game-saving saves. “He keeps our team alive and as one,” said Coach Carthew. “This is always a good quality to have in a player, especially for a keeper.”
The fighting Scots dominated the second half, not only by scoring three goals within thirty minutes, but also by having had more shots and corner kicks than their opponents.
Meanwhile, The Scots have another game versus Ripon College, up north in Ripon, Wisc. The game will be held on Oct. 1, and the Scots are excepted to pull off another victory.
The next home game for the Scots will be on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at The Peacock Memorial Athletic Park. Our fighting Scots will be playing Cornell College
