Another long, hard weekend for Monmouth's Fighting Scots' men's basketball team with one win and one loss added to their record. The Scots played a double-header in Wisconsin verse both Beloit and Rippon College.

On Friday, Feb 3, the Scots played in a victorious win for the first weekend game away at Beloit College, in Beloit WI. The Scots won with a final score of 62-60 over Beloit. Monmouth player's Joe Terwelp and David Price both played very good in Saturday's game. "The two played at an outstanding level of basketball," said Scots' coach Terry Glasgow. "They scored many points during the game that were absolutely needed for victory."

Terwelp scored 13 points while Price had 12 points for the Scots. While keeping the team alive along with other key Monmouth players, such as Andy Moore and Chris Hebeler, the points added up. Moore scored 10 points for the Scots and Hebeler had a total of 9.

The next day on Saturday, Feb 4, the Scots played away at Rippon College in Rippon, WI. The final score of the basketball game was 102-99, for Rippon. Monmouth lost their 11th game of the season, but still maintains a spot in the playoffs to come.

Hebeler, for Monmouth, scored a total of 28 big points and Anthony Beaird scored 26 points. "We played so good and kept up all throughout the game," said Monmouth basketball player, Wes Wrage. "It was such a high scoring game too. It's too bad we didn't end up with the win."

On Wednesday, Feb 8, the Fighting Scots played against Knox College, in Galesburg, Ill. The game started at 7 pm.

In the game earlier this year the Scots lost a heartbreaker in overtime 80-79. The Scots trailed by as many as 24 points in the contest before makeing a valent comeback.

The second game between the two heated rivals was just as good. However, the Scots once again fell to the Praire Fire.

The final score was 69-65. Although the Scots led at halftime by a score of 33-25.

Usual scoring threat for the Scots Beaird was limited to only three points in 28 minutes.

Terwelp did score 20 points to lead the Scots but it simply wasnt enough to over come the Praire Fire.

The Scots had defensive let down in the second half. After only giving up 25 points in the first half the Scots saw the Fire score 44 in the final half.

Knox shot a rediculous 58% from the field in the second half and their hot shooting simply allowed them to walk away with the win.

The Scots have just two more games. On Saturday, Feb 11, the Scots will be playing versus Lake Forest College. The game will be at home in the Huff Center at 4 pm.

Also, The Scots will be playing an away game at Illinois College, in Jacksonville, Ill. The last game for the Scots is a home game and it starts at 7 pm.

After these late-in-the-season games, the Scots will mot be able to qualify for the MWC Championships taking place from Friday, Feb 24, to Saturday, Feb 25. The teams and times have yet to be revealed.
