“Destination” a fun, gory trip

2006 seems to be the year of horror/thriller flicks. If you have been to the movies at all in the past few months, you have most likely noticed that a number of the films are geared to keep you on the edge of your seat. With the success of films such as “Saw II,” “Hostel,” and the remake of “When a Stranger Calls,” it is no surprise that New Line Cinema recently released “Final Destination 3.” As the title states, “Final Destination 3” is the third installment of the popular film franchise that originally started in 2000.

In comparison to the two previously released films, “Final Destination 3” stands above the rest. Although the movie is neither successfully driven by a plot or character development, the film does provide an hour and a half of exciting death sequences. The film’s creators have once again provided creative and unique action sequences that are sure to make you clench your teeth and peak through your hands. The film is also successful on the amount of blood and gore it could possibly show in an hour and a half.

Despite the fast pace and thrilling feel of the movie, the film has a weak screenplay and some moments are just flat-out bizarre. If you are looking to watch a great film or one of substance, I suggest going to see some of the Oscar contenders such as “Brokeback Mountain,” but if you are looking to be shocked and scared to ever set foot on a roller coaster again, I suggest buying a ticket for “Final Destination 3,” in theatres now.
