Get involved with school activities and find out about the bowling tournament to help out Monmouth athletics.

The MC softball team will be hosting a bowling fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Monmouth Bowling Lanes to help fund the team’s trip to Florida over spring break.

The entry fee is $10 per team, if you sign up now, or $15 at the door. Sign up is in the lower level of Stockdale Monday through Friday during lunch hours.

A team is made up of two people, one male and one female; however, teams of two males and two females will also be accepted.

The team with the highest score will win its entry fee back along with prizes from MC Sports, MC Bookstore, Dairy Queen, Family Video, Hardee’s, Pizza Hut, Cerar’s Barnstormer and other businesses in Monmouth.

There will also be a first prize awarded to the one male and one female team, one two male team, and one two female team with the highest one game score.

The school does not fund the softball team’s trip to Florida. The more the students can help out, the less the softball players will have to pay out of their own pocket.

In Florida, the team will be playing two games a day on March 6, 8 and 10. They will be competing against Rochester Institute of Technology, Curry College, Olivet College, Emmanuel College, St. John Fisher College and Rockford College.

In addition to the bowling fundraiser, softball team members are selling raffle tickets.

Junior team member Jacyln Hennefent states, “Thanks to everyone who has already contributed, but we could still use some more help.”

Get out there and help support the softball team by having a fun night of bowling.
