Roger Sander

Roger Sander will lead his baseball team onto the field for his 13th straight year. Sander graduated himself from Monmouth College in 1978 is widely known as one of the more enthusiastic MC fans.

Sander refuses to even allow the color purple into his house regardless of the shade.

Yes, he refuses even magenta, plumb, violet, and even lavender. Sander, to say the least, takes the Knox rivalry very seriously.

Sander’s 13 years as a MC Coach makes him the third longest tenured coach at Monmouth behind Terry Glasgow (34) and Roger Haynes (22).

This year, Sander will look to build upon last years 24-9 mark. The team is returning a majority of its players so this year should be equally as special.

Not only has the baseball team been successful on the field, but they also posted 20 Academic All-MWC players last spring. Look for them to continue this success both on and off.

Kari Shimmin

Kari Shimmin is in her second year as coach of the softball team and will look to help build the squad over this next season.

Last year, the women finished a disappointing 7-24 in their first year under Shimmin.

Shimmin is a graduate for Monmouth College in 1997 and also coaches the volleyball team in the fall.

The team has taken on an arduous practice schedule as they are consistently the last team to leave the Huff Center.
Shimmin and the squad will try to have drastic improvements at every position.

The softball team helped post 20 athletes on the Academic All-MWC players last spring.

The squad will start the season off witha double header on Mar. 6.

Along side of Shimmin, will be assistant coaches Hank Shimmin and John Goddard who are both also in their second year with the MC softball team.
