Men’s Tennis against Quincy and Wartburg
The men’s tennis team takes on Quincy University and Wartburg College on Feb. 25 in the Huff Center starting at 9am. The men will look to keep their good fortune going as they have won the last 2 out of 3 all at home. They beat Central College 4-3 and split last weekend against Illinois Wesleyan College and Wheaton College. They beat Wesleyan 7-0 and lost to Wheaton 6-1. Sophomore Brandon Stacey helped the Scots in beating Central College and earned himself Midwest Conference Performer of the Week. In a combined three matches, he went 5-1 and paired up with Jared Kunkle to go 3-0 in number one doubles. The men will travel to Orlando, FL for their spring break trip.
Schlender Invitational at Whitewater
The Monmouth College track teams travel to yet another tough meet this weekend on Feb. 25. Whitewater is one of the four men’s teams in DIII that is ranked higher than the Scots in the preseason polls. The men have finished no less than first so far this year, and boast solid standout performers each week. The men have placed a member of the track team on Midwest Conference Performer of the Week every week so far. This week is Albert Greene and Kel Bond. The women who are ranked 17th in the nation have done no worse than third so far this season. The women have jumped on the backs of the field event performers and the young runners. Christina Reiner and Megan McKenna have both cleared 10 feet in the pole vault. Last weekend, Abby Horneck took the only Monmouth victory of the day in the triple jump with a leap of 34’4.
