Women still have young roster

But depth will carry them through

The Monmouth College Fighting Scots softball team begin their season in just ten days. Last year, the women's main problem was their lack of experience both on the field and in the coaching spots.

The women didn't have any upperclassmen on the team last year and it was head coach Kari Shimmin's first year. The women, still young, now have four juniors on the roster, but still lack senior leadership. Track another solid performance

The Monmouth College Track team traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa to participate in the UNI Dome Invitational on Friday Feb. 17. The event took place at the University of Northern Iowa. This event was an individual competition and team scores were not given out.

MC had two top performers and both had a record setting Friday afternoon. Senior Albert Greene wowed the fans in the triple jump competition as he finished a close second with a record setting jump. Read More...

Men and women hit the links

Yes, it is that time of year the links will be opening soon. The men’s team will be open their seasons over spring break on their annual spring trip and this year they will be heading to Lake of the Ozarks, MO.

After returning from Missouri and their first competition, the men will face an arduous schedule that will take them all over the great state of Illinois. Read More...

Baseball breaks out the lumber

The saying you can never have enough pitching is common among college baseball coaches and for Roger Sander the head coach of MC’s baseball team this is a non issue. His roster consists of 49 athletes 20 of which are pitchers.

For a game, that will at best see 13 players per team play in a nine inning game, 49 is pushing it for a college roster. This bloated roster is mainly due to the college’s no cut policy.  Read More...
