New housing sign-up process

Housing sign-up for next year is just around the corner and a new process has been implemented to create a smoother and more efficient process.
Last year, many students camped outside of the Huff Atletic Center starting the evening before the sign-ups to make sure they requested the room they wanted.
For students wanting to keep their current rooms, sign-up was on Monday, March 20 through Wednesday, March 23 through the Internet.
Junior Sarah Kaufman said, “It is a lot easier signing up online. It reduces the amount of people in the Huff waiting in lines. I think sign-up will be a lot easier this year.”
As for students who are living in a Theme House, they are not permitted to sign-up using this process and need to follow the Theme House application process, and they did the previous year.
Sign-up for displaced persons is on Friday, March 24 at the Office of Student Affairs in Poling Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are highly recommended; call ext. 2113 to make a reservation.
For the rest of the students who are planning to room with someone who is planning to keep his/her same room, sign-up is Wednesday, March 29 and Thursday March 30 at the Office of Residence Life, same times listed above.
To make an appointment contact Joseph Fitzpatrick, assistant director of Residence Life, at ext. 2113.
General sign-up is the week of April 3-6 in Glennie Gymnasium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and every current student has been assigned a number based on completed credit hours.
Junior Liz Martin said, “I think that the housing process will be a lot better since we are all assigned numbers. It seems to be more organized and now we don’t have to wake up at 5 a.m. to wait in line”.
Students can find their assigned numbers On-line at http://department.monm.edu/stuserv/residence-life/housing.htm.
In addition, the list should be posted in all residence halls.
If a student is unable to sign-up on the night assigned to them, they need to fill out a proxy form and have a friend sign them up.
Any questions or concerns should be forwarded to Fitzpatrick.
