Now Playing:
“The Benchwarmers” - David Spade, Jon Lovitz, Jon Heder and Rob Schneider all return to the big screen after what seems a too-brief hiatus with this comedy. Even by Rob Schneider standards, this looks pretty godawful.
“Lucky Number Slevin” - Ah. This is more like it. Bruce WIllis, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Liu, Ben Kingsley and Josh Hartnett star in this darkly comic action thriller about mistaken identity and some mob bosses. This is worth seeing for the cast alone, so who cares about the plot? It has to be better than “The Benchwarmers” just by default.
On DVD:
“Brokeback Mountain” - Ang Lee’s box-office and critical favorite may have lost the Best Picture Oscar accolades to “Crash,” but Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal’s performances in this story of a doomed love affair are now preserved on DVD for movie fans to decide which film is better.
“Mel Brooks Box Set Collection” - Featuring almost every important Brooks flick except “The Producers” and “Spaceballs,” this box set, which is very necessary for those with a sense of humor, allows fans to finally have “High Anxiety” on DVD after a long wait. Remember: Those who are tardy do not get fruit cup.
