Cheers and Jeers

CHEERS to the Pac-10 for recognizing that the officials made a mistake in the Sept. 16 contest between Oklahoma and Oregon, which ultimately cost Oklahoma the game. Perhaps if NCAA replay officials were able to freeze the replays and zoom in, this error never would have occurred. Too bad for the Sooners.
JEERS to the college athletes who have been getting arrested for drug and firearm possession. There have been far too many of these stories the last couple of months. These athletes are given the opportunity of a lifetime; they get a free education and a few of them have shown their appreciation by breaking the law. Many of these athletes are allowed to come back to their teams after a one or two game suspension. I think I speak for all students who are or will be paying off their college loans for several years after graduation when I say the actions by these select few individuals make me sick.
