MC dance team brings “sexy back”

This year is expected to be one of the best to date for the Monmouth College dance team. They return from last year with more members, more performances and many exciting ideas.

Last year the team performed primarily at MC football and basketball halftime shows. The team also won the Spirit Shout contest at Homecoming.

There are a few changes to the team this year.

The team has added five new members. New to the team are four freshmen: Melissa Krage, Emily Friedrich, Amanda Sommers, Sarah Zero and one new junior, Brittney Coombs.

Also, Janet Kajor has returned to the team after taking a year off.

This year’s captains of the team are juniors Alison Coulter and Rebekah McCombs.

These ladies deserve a lot of credit for what they are doing because their organization is not sponsored by Monmouth College.

They have taken the initiative by bringing their enthusiasm and creativity to MC sporting events and to community events as well. In the process, they have enriched the experience for all in attendance.

As well as some new faces, they are performing in new places.

This year the team has added local parades into the mix.

On Sept. 16, the team performed in the Canton parade. They also performed at the Monmouth-Roseville High School homecoming parade on Sept. 27.

Sophomore Lindsay Jackson has been a member of the team since last year and finds dancing with the girls rewarding because she likes to perform in front of people.

“I like music and dancing to music makes it that much more fun,” Jackson said. “We’re fun, exciting to watch, we have great moves and we’re bringing sexy back!”

If parades are not your thing but you still want to support your MC dance team, you can watch them at every Monmouth College football and basketball halftime shows.”
