From now until Oct. 27, “Bracketings,” an exhibition of acrylic paintings and digital photos, will be on display in the Len G. Everett Gallery on the second floor of Hewes Library.

Artist James Mai, an associate professor in painting at Illinois State University, will present a lecture this afternoon at 1 p.m. in the library’s Barnes Electronic Classroom.

A reception will follow the lecture in the gallery.

According to the press release sent out by the Monmouth College Office of College Communications, Mai’s exhibit displays two types of digital prints created in Adobe Illustrator. The first type of print is mathematically-based and the second, color-based.

The lecture will explain the meaning of the title “Bracketings.” According to the press release, “The title references color interactive relationships as models of phenomenology, the interplay between subjective and objective words.”

From Nov. 6 until Dec. 1, the Len G. Everett Gallery will host the “Monmouth College Student Exhibition and Competition.” The reception for this event will be held on Nov. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. All students and faculty are invited to attend.

The Len G. Everett Gallery is open daily during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to midnight.
