Monmouth rises to the top of cross country scene

The Men’s Midwest Conference cross country meet was truly unique. For 19 out of 20 years, Grinnell has been the cream of the crop in the Midwest Conference (MWC). This year, however, Monmouth joined Grinnell at the top of the heap. At the conference meet, the Scots tied Grinnell 36-36 to become co-champions of the MWC. This has been the first time the Scots have held the title since an outright victory in 1996.

“When you’re dealing with one through five runners scoring, it’s very unusual; it’s only the second time it’s happened in the history of the Midwest Conference, one time was back in the 1930s. It was a matter of they beat us in the front two spots and we beat them in three, four and five [sic]. It ended up an exact tie, so it’s really unusual,” said head coach Roger Haynes.  Read More...

Women’s soccer on the outside looking in

 With the end of the women’s soccer season, the team is on the outside looking in on the Midwest Conference tournament. Going into the last weekend of the season, the women knew they had a very slim chance of making it to the conference tournament.  Read More...

 The men’s soccer team was in transition in the 2006 season by adding a new coach, George Perry, and 11 new freshmen coming to the roster.

The football team rebounded from their disappointing loss to Lake Forest on homecoming by beating Illinois College on Saturday, Oct. 28, 17-7.

Against IC, the Scots relied on the services of their leading rusher senior Dante Daniels. Daniels rushed for 205 yards in the game and accounted for both MC touchdowns.  Read More...

The Bronze Turkey on the run... star running backs look to steal the show

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Monmouth College Fighting Scots and the Knox College Prairie Fire will meet on the gridiron for 118th time in the Turkey Bowl. The Scots have won the last seven Turkey Bowls.  Read More...
