Men show use depth at home invitational  

Newcomers dive past competition and lift MC to victory

The Monmouth College swim team hosted their first home meet of the 2006 season on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Monmouth College Invitational featured the MC men’s swim team who accumulated 693 points. This is 183 points better than the team that took second place at the invitational. The women did not perform as well, placing fourth of the eight teams competing.

The Travnik brothers were a huge part of the Fighting Scots’ success, as the pair scored 126 points. Freshman Matt Travnik scored 79 points by him self. The younger Travnik, Jim, finished third in the 200-yard freestyle, sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke, and third in the 500-yard freestyle. Cross Country races to regionals 

 The Monmouth College cross country team participated in the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, Nov. 11 to conclude their season.

The men’s team, who had an impressive 2007 season that included the Midwest Conference championship, placed 14th at the 37 team event. As for the women, they placed 25th against a 38 team field.  Read More...

Women’s basketball rebuilding season

The 2006 women’s basketball team finished a disappointing 10-13 overall and 7-9 in the Midwest Conference play. The sub .500 record came in a rebuilding year for the Scots. In 2006, the Scots were under first year coach Melissa Jones, who graduated from Monmouth in 2003. Jones replaced Monmouth’s all-time winning women’s basketball coach Dennis Mann. Mann accumulated 118 wins between 1992 and 2005. Read More...

Men’s basketball treading path lightly

 The 2006 volleyball season has come to a close. The Fighting Scots’ volleyball team struggled down the stretch run of the season and continued into the Midwest Conference tournament. s Read More...

AA Intervention: Violence

The University of Miami’s football team has been at the center of two very violent acts during the course of this season. Not only were they involved in a brawl with Florida International, but one of their starting defensive tackles was also shot and killed earlier this month.  Read More...
