Will this give me a headache later tonight??
Sophomore Josh Jacobs wonders whether he should eat the food in
the cafeteria after hearing the disturbing results given by a
Monmouth College political economy and commerce class on some of the
contents of the food served in the cafeteria. Additives such as
Ferrous Sulfate, Ammonium, Calcium Sulfate, Carrageenan, BHT and
Sodium Nitrate are present in food served in the Monmouth College
food service locations, many of which can have extremely adverse
health effects. Stomach cramping, severe headaches and nausea are
just a sampling of common side effects resulting from ingesting
these additives. The presentation was geared towards raising
awareness on campus regarding the hazardous health effects of
chemical additives as well as the benefits of organic foods grown
without additives or other chemicals.
