Cold weather, propped door led to disaster in dorm

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5th, several residents and resident assistants received a nasty surprise. One of the steam heaters in The North Hall ruptured, causing a combination of high pressured water and steam to fill one of the foyers in the residence hall.

The water quickly moved throughout the building, flooding several residential rooms, the hallway and the kitchen in the basement.   Read More...

Misunderstanding at ZBT leads to physical altercation

The large hole in the wall at the fraternity complex is one of the many reminders witnesses will have of a violent altercation which took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, Feb. 3. This altercation, precipitated by what a source called a “misinterpretation as hostility,” directly involved two Monmouth College students and an out-of-town friend of another student, as well as indirectly involving several other Monmouth College students.   Read More...

Search for new vice president for college advancement is underway

With Perry White’s announcement in October of 2006 that he was relinquishing the vice president of college advancement position in order to return to his former post in the music department, there has been a significant vacancy in the college’s administrative staff. As a result, Monmouth College began its search for a replacement late in November, with screenings and interviews of candidates beginning in the middle of January.  Read More...
