Changes to commencement policies official

At the faculty meeting on Feb. 6, new policies for commencement, to take effect in May of 2007, were adopted.
One of the major changes is the regulation of who can walk across the stage at commencement. As the policy currently states, a student must have completed the application for degree by Feb. 15, completed all degree requirements by spring of the commencement year or to have 15 or fewer credit hours left toward the earning of a degree, expected to have been completed by fall semester the following school year.
All those intending to walk at commencement must complete the commencement confirmation process on Scot Central (found on the college webpage) by March 15 of the year they intend to participate. This means, graduating seniors, you have until March 15 to complete the confirmation process on Scot Central or you will not be allowed to participate in commencement.
Finally, another major change to the commencement policies is the regulation of academic regalia. Students will only be allowed to display regalia from achieving cum laude status or above, participating in the Honors program, membership in Mortarboard senior honors fraternity or membership in national honor societies determined by the head of each individual department.
These changes will be covered in more depth in future
