MFL hosts guest speaker: Potowski

There are many different languages and with those languages, many different dialects. On Thursday, Sept. 20, in the Morgan Room of Poling Hall, Kim Potowski, from the University of Illinois at Chicago, enlightened a diverse audience of Monmouth College students, faculty and even some of Monmouth’s community members about her study of one specific Spanish dialect.

Slingshot 57 rocks Dahl Chapel

    This past Friday, Monmouth College was visited by a band which goes by the name of Slingshot 57. They have not quite made it to Guitar Hero status yet, but they have gained a national audience–which they will play to during upcoming shows in Iowa, Mississippi and California. The musicians of Slingshot 57, who hail from Champaign-Urbana, have played over 450 shows in 23 states since their formation in 1999. This five member band has been labeled as Pop, Indie and Christian Rock. Their aspirations are also extensive: they want to change the world. So what are they about?

Football improves to 2-0 in MWC

        The Monmouth College Fighting Scots captured their second win in the young 2007 football season by beating Beloit College 45-0 on Saturday, Sept. 15.
    Junior running back Jeff Davis had a statement game for MC as he rushed for 175 yards on 25 carries. The junior also found pay dirt two times.
